meet OUR HARTBEAT

I love finding new blogs! Well... not new, but new to me. I was clicking around flickr a bit ago and found our hartbeat via the Electic Interiors group I am a part of. Annalea shares her beautiful family and beautiful home as well as sweet little stories of her children. Take a look at her home filled with crafted decor and bargain finds and be inspired. I know I am!

whimsical WEDNESDAY

1.) The Gardener Bookmark: I love these bookmarks. Instead of having the usual bookmark tassel sticking out of your book, you can create a little gardening scene. You can then enjoy looking at the book as much when it is closed as when it is open.

2.) Squirrelcup Mini-print: Just because it would be cute, and a little frightening to find a squirrel staring up at you from the bottom of your coffee cup. After the initial scream, I would probably ooh and aah and feed it a crumb of my toast.

3.) Charles Eames as a Log Print: The answer to our burning question of what Charles Eames would look like as wood.

4.) Put It Here Hook: I picture this as the last hook you pass before leaving the house. It could hold keys, an umbrella, or a lunch sack. "Hey! You forgot this!" yells the disturbing hand poking out of the wall. "Wow, thanks, Mr. Hand. Where would I be without you?" you say as you grab the forgotten item, flash the hand a smile and wink, and head out the door to your salsa lesson.

WOOD SCRAP tree

This tree wall makes such a statement and anyone can replicate it with minimal funds. Gather wood scraps, nail them up at will, and voila! - a one of a kind wall piece. Add hooks to turn the tree into a coat/purse hanger as pictured above. Imagine what other wall art you can create with wood scraps: a sailboat in a boy's room, initials in an entryway or above a bed, a simple house built onto a wall above a shelf as though it is sitting on it... the sky is the limit! ...or rather, your ceiling is the limit...

Amy Rice's art is beautiful, but I am most taken with these turquoise frames and the turquoise background they are on. I love the variety of frames united with a common color. And of course we all know I love turquoise. Time to whip out a can of spray paint and give new life to those mismatched frames you haven't found a home for but can't bring yourself to throw out.

With paper and books, the creative opportunities are endless. I am definitely considering a DIY version of that book planter. The only problem? Keeping plants alive once planted inside. I was born with a black thumb... you know there's a problem when you can't keep cacti, bonzai trees, or bamboo shoots alive...

sf renegade craft fair: MARYINK

Maryink has long been one of my favorite Etsy stores. I love their tees and am pretty sure I could live in them, and their silk-screened votive holders have the sweetest designs.... ferris wheels, cameos, quails, and more. A good evening would be: wearing one of their tees to relax on the couch with a book, a cup of tea, and some candles lit within their votive holders. I am definitely stopping by their booth at the San Francisco Renegade Fair. If you aren't able to visit them there, please stop by their Etsy shop to come up with a Maryink scenario of your own.

I have a little obsession with glasses... especially unique ones, colored glass ones, and big ones. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for me, Etch Your Heart Out provides all of the above. Mustache glasses, animals glasses, shopping cart glasses, and a glass every girl should have at least one of for a glamour day- the Audrey Hepburn glass. Now I just have to think of a good place to hide them so hubby doesn't find out... and because my cabinet has no more room for glasses... Lisa Price is the woman behind artgoodies. Her store is filled with charming linocut block print tea towels, prints, aprons, and softies. I know my home could definitely use some of those tea towels (the pink deer and the squirrel must need a welcoming home)... and who says you have to have children to purchase an adorable softie (the bunny is calling to me)? Check out Lisa's interview from when she was Etsy's featured seller, and, of course, visit her at her shop.

FARMHOUSE wares

If I had to describe my decorating style it would be feminine vintage eclectic farmhouse. Just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? I'm sure there's something easier to call it. I love living in the country and want to someday live in an old farmhouse with lots of character. Until then, I can add farmhouse elements to my crooked shmooked home. Enter Farmhouse Wares.

BOUQUETS of light

I was over looking at house tours on Design*Sponge, as I often am, and was walking through Tonje Holand's home with her when I spotted her beautiful Cherry Blossom lights from Graham & Green. I initially thought they must be a lamp, but when I headed over to Graham & Green, I found that they are actually branches of flowers you can stick anywhere- and they are quite affordable! I am loving the versatility that a branch of happily-lit flowers could bring. They could warm your living space, welcome a visitor into the guest room, or even surprise people in the bathroom. Or, here's a thought, give them to a friend for a holiday or as a "just because" gift in lieu of a real bouquet that will wilt! I almost have myself convinced...

Luckily for us, cherry blossoms aren't the only flowers lighting up their store.

I have had wallpaper on the brain ever since the amazing giveaway at decor8. Speaking of wallpaper, how ingenious is Frames by Graham & Brown? It would be perfect for the artistic child's room, an office, or really... anywhere. Imagine all the money you will save on frames after you buy Frames.

SWEET dreams

I don't know why I am still up. Actually, I do- I am up because I was working on an etsy treasury. Those things are the devil. You have to stalk them to try to even get one and once you do, you want it to be perfect- front page worthy. I gave up on mine for tonight. I am tuckered out. It's time to rest my head on the pillow and dream about... pillows.
