style twin: GINNIFER GOODWIN

I have been a Ginnifer Goodwin (and Justin Long) fan since the Ed days. (I wish someone would put that show on DVD!) I loved her as a quirky little high schooler and lately I am loving her as her own glamorous self. Seriously, with her short sassy haircut and can't-make-a-wrong-move fashion sense, could she be any cuter? I don't think I have seen her wear an outfit lately that I myself wouldn't wear-- if I ever had a reason to be on the red carpet. I like to think she is my "if I were famous" fashion twin. The glamour, the flawless make-up, sassy but natural hair- long or short, feminine but semi-funky style, luscious fabrics and all of the gorgeous color palettes she chooses (often seen in jewel tones- my favorite)... it's like she's reading my mind.

mail call: IKEA 2010

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful August weekend! Mine was very uneventful, but the new IKEA mag did throw a little bit of fun daydreaming into the days.

I got my IKEA 2010 mag in the mail Friday and hubby and I have already discussed things we might want to add to the house once our life-long, tear-your-hair-out remodel is done. We have never shopped at IKEA because it's a 2 hr drive to get there and really, we never realized how insanely inexpensive it is. But now that the whole world has alerted us to the joys of shopping at IKEA, we will have to make a trip someday soon (maybe my October birthday?)... possibly for some of these things:

Karlstad sofa-bed w/storage

We are planning on selling our brown "What were we thinking? This isn't even our style" couch that we bought right after getting married, and buying a new, much more practical and appealing couch. This is one of the options. I have seen this in both green and a gray/white stripe and prefer both of those to the white, but they are nowhere to be found on the site...

Tundra floor in white

We initially wanted white floor in the kitchen, but after looking at all of the options, we decided they would be too expensive. This definitely isn't expensive. Has anyone used their Tundra floors before?

PS SVINGA hanging seat

I don't think hubby is on board with the hanging seat craze, but they look so fun and quirky to me... and a little like having part of a swingset in your house, and who doesn't want that?

PS LOMSK swivel chair

I'm not actually considering this, but is it not almost exactly the same as the chair the kids are sitting in in Sleepless in Seattle? Methinks so. It would be terribly fun for a kid's room. (Speaking of Sleepless in Seattle... a Broadways musical in the works? Veeery iiinteresting.)

Do you shop at IKEA? What are your thoughts about it?

the black apple PACKING TAPE

The Black Apple just added packing tape to their store today. One of my favorite Etsy artists plus decorative tape?! Simply amazing. And yes, I am spending my evening window shopping through Etsy. Hubby and I started to watch The Soloist, but he conked out after 20 minutes, so now I am waiting for him to nap and then wake up so we can continue the movie. Welcome to my hoppin' Saturday night. ; )

the brand spanking new WEEKLY SCHEDULE

A little organization never hurt anyone and it's certainly not going to hurt Crooked Shmooked. It is time to bring a little bit of structure into the Crooked Shmooked week. Sure, I have a fun time just dumping whatever I feel like onto the screen, but I think there is something wonderful about being able to expect certain things on certain days. Instead of having to visit three different days for links, you can just hop on over to Friday to get the links of the week. And instead of wading through posts about animals-themed-anything and silly gadgets, you can just say hello to Whimsical Wednesday. Oh sure, there will be other posts here and there if I feel like certain subjects are so amazing and momentous that they deserve their own spot, but those will just be the cherries on top of the weekly schedule. So without further ado, here is what you can expect to find on Crooked Shmooked, Monday through Friday, starting next week:

_____ MONDAYS: Monday has been left open because I want to know what YOU want to see on Monday. Is there anything you want to see more of or anything you want to see any of? Please share your ideas. And if the rest of the week quenches all of your weekly desires, Monday will remain a free for all day until further notice. And of course, I am always open to hosting giveaways *hint, hint*.

SMITTEN TUESDAYS: Tuesday is the official Smitten Kitten day. I am often smitten with Etsy shops, themes, fashion designers, colors, and, of course, kittens. This is where I will share what has me smitten for the week. No rules apply. If I'm smitten with dinosaurs one week, just bear with me and hold on until next week when I am destined to be smitten with something a little more cutesy.

WHIMSICAL WEDNESDAYS: Wednesday is the day that I get to share all of the silly, cute, impractical although somehow justified-to-be-practical goods that make me smile and wish I had a budget just for animal-themed jewelry and usb storage devices that look like Yoda.

INSPIRATION THURSDAYS: Thursday is all about whatever inspires me- whether it be a room, home decor, art, a fancy Anthropologie dress, or even a new color discovery- it will be shared and will hopefully inspire you as well.

LINK UP FRIDAYS: Friday is all about free art, contests, sales, diy projects, fonts, new blog discoveries, and anything and everything else that must be shared. There is too much available across the blogosphere and internet not to give you a Link Friday. It's time for my saved links to say goodbye to their bookmarked folder and hello to you.

So there you go! Change is coming to Crooked Shmooked and hopefully it will be a change that makes you smile and encourages the organizational freak inside of you to purr.

My Etsy favorites list is always filled with vintage tins. I have dreams of owning a vintage tin collection to store teas and such in. The collection has not yet been started, but someday there will be a variety of floral, turquoise, and pastel patterned tins sitting atop my china cabinet. And when that happens, you will be the first to know... if the world has not moved onto bigger and better forms of technology by then.
