whimsical WEDNESDAY: $20 and under

1.) $10 Scallop Coinpurse Orange : I think I currently have 3 coin purses in my massive "Mary Poppins-esque, can fit my whole life in it" purse... strangely enough- none of them are filled with coins... I think I should introduce this cutesy coin purse to my collection and maybe, I don't know, fill it with COINS.
2.) $16 Paper Circus with Dancing Hares : I love this little carousel. It's paper and comes to you all cut out and then you put it together. Sure, it's probably not going to last forever, but don't we all need something so sweet to sit on a shelf somewhere in our lives?
3.) $20 Mobile Rain of Colors : I can't stop myself from looking at all the cloud mobiles in this shop. I just love them. Don't you wish rain was as colorful as on these mobiles?
4.) $19.99 Telephones Knit Pillow : I don't even know why, but I love this quirky little pillow. Ummm- everyone needs a pillow with phones on it.... right?...

Hey! Don't forget to enter my massive blogiversary giveaway. You only have 2 days left!

smitten with GOLD

Hubby has long made fun of me for my obsession with gold. He likes to send his impression of Austin Powers my way: "I like gooooold"... not because either of us like that movie, but just because it fits my gold obsession. I barely ever wear silver and always prefer my jewelry in gold. And I prefer gold in the house for decor except the bathroom or kitchen. I'm not sure when the gold obsession started and I don't know if it will ever end, but it continues in this post- for you.

a PET for your finger

If you live in a rental where you aren't allowed to have pets, consider adopting one for your finger. Animal rings cost nothing to feed, don't have to be potty-trained, and are ridiculously chic. I'm waiting for the day when I can justify spending $198 on a snail ring... after all, snails are my favorite insect- the non-jeweled kind.

SECRET book camera

Being a secret agent (or, please don't tell me if you are, a stalker) has never been so cute. The SuperHeadz Secret Book Camera is available for $14.99 at Urban Outfitters right now.

mail call: URBAN OUTFITTERS MAG

I received the new Urban Outfitters mag in the mail today. I'll admit that I'm not so much a fan of the nakedness on the cover (read as: I wish they would recall the mag, put some clothes on that girl, and then resend it), it does nothing to make me want to buy that necklace... but I'm loving the tees from page 16-17. They are all the kind of easy, breezy fashion I am into right now. The stripes, florals, and neutrals are perfection. I would wear any one of them.... with pants.

smitten with SLOUCHY LEGGINGS

I got my first toast mag in the mail yesterday. What a feast for my eyes! I can't even tell you how many things I adore in there. The article of clothing that caught my attention the most was the slouchy leggings, or churidar. They look so comfy and perfectly adorable with every outfit they are paired with. I am definitely smitten.

wear your WALLS on your LEGS

While looking at Urban Outfitter's tights collection, I was inspired to find matching wallpaper. So if you ever looked at your wallpaper and thought, "I wish I had tights like that" or looked in the mirror at your tights and thought, "If only they had this pattern for my walls," this post is for you.

show and tell: the CHRISTMAS LOOT

Santa (and by Santa, I mean my hubby and family) was good to me this year. I can't wait to be well enough to enjoy these gifts!

Row 1: Miss Monocle by The Brilliant Magpie, Deux Lux Pintuck Satchel from Urban Outfitters, Ash Canvas Toms, Joshua Radin: Simple Times
Row 2: Old Navy V-Neck Pocket Tees, Retro Falling Print by Jelly Beans, Singin' in the Rain DVD, Born Potion Boots
Row 3: Marled Fingerless Gloves from Urban Outfitters, Coldplay: Prospekt's March [EP], A Walking Snowstorm by The Brilliant Magpie, All Wired Up by Mark Lareau
Row 4: Keane: Perfect Symmetry, Authentic Lo Pro Vans, Signature Bootcut Hudson Jeans, What's Behind the Mask by The Brilliant Magpie

I also received an adorable owl ornament, book bag, and some jewelry from Baksheesh, one of my favorite stores ever. Only 3 of them exist, all in the wine country, but if you ever visit Healdsburg or Sonoma, you have to check them out. They are a free trade shop that sells beautiful and inexpensive jewelry, home decor, and musical instruments from Third World countries. Unique, inexpensive, and free trade- win, win, win.

One of my favorite crafted gifts was a creative memories book my sister made for me that goes through my and my hubby's dating, engagement, and then wedding. There were photos in it that I've never even seen before. It means so much because after 2+ years of marriage, we still haven't gotten wedding photos developed (long story about picking the wrong photographer). I love it.

All things considered, it was a very strange but blessed Christmas. And in light of being sick, I realized how little it mattered to me what I got, but that the important thing was the time with my family and love we all share. So even though I love my loot, it was my family that made this Christmas extra-special, and really- that's how it always should be. : )

i like TUFTS

This just in. Doo-doo-doo doo doo. (That's supposed to read like the beeping noise they do when there is breaking news.) Urban Outfitters has some amazing new furniture in their online shop. Amazing as in "I could envision each and every piece living a long and happy life in my home." And I am sure I am not the only one.

P.S. I realize that my first post after Christmas should probably be about Christmas and what Santa brought, but being that I am still in bed sick (and spent Christmas morning in the ER), I haven't had a chance to take any photos of the Christmas bounty. I know you understand.

brrrr... it's SWEATER weather

It finally feels like fall in Northern California. It has taken long enough... it's nearly mid-November. I'll admit, I feel jipped this season. Fall is my favorite time of year and half of our fall has felt like summer. But you'll have to forgive my griping because I have forgiven fall. Fall has finally given me hot tea sipping, sock-layering, fireside sitting, pumpkin eating, crockpot cooking, blanket wrapping, novel reading, sweater-wearing WEATHER! And to celebrate fall's gift, I am considering wrapping everything possible in sweaters. There's no cozier way to enjoy the season!
