I am in loooove with Anthropologie's most recent catalogue. The outfits are to die for. These are my three favorites. How amazing is that ombre maxi skirt? And I am tempted to save my pennies to buy the last outfit, but chances are that by the time my pennies are saved, that outfit won't be in style. We'll be wearing silver space suits by then. But if anyone can make silver space suits look hot and chic, Anthropologie can, right?

a TURNTABLE for dreamers

I have been wanting a turntable for a good long while. There are warm memories associated with my childhood-- listening to 40 Funky Hits and Get Smart episodes and thinking I was the coolest kid ever-- and I think there's something beautiful about watching the records spin and listening to the crackles and pops as the needle hits imperfect ridges. I've thought about looking at garage sales and thrift stores or stealing ma and pop's that I know they haven't used since I was a teen, but I know, if I had the option, this Barky Turntable would be perfect. It's probably not the best investment since I want a turntable mostly for nostalgia's sake rather than to play all my music on, but a girl can dream... and luckily, dreams don't have to be practical.

Hubby has long made fun of me for my obsession with gold. He likes to send his impression of Austin Powers my way: "I like gooooold"... not because either of us like that movie, but just because it fits my gold obsession. I barely ever wear silver and always prefer my jewelry in gold. And I prefer gold in the house for decor except the bathroom or kitchen. I'm not sure when the gold obsession started and I don't know if it will ever end, but it continues in this post- for you.

Ruthi Auda: Ruthi is a friend of a friend. She is one of the stylists for Anthropologie. You know those amazing and ridiculously detailed displays within the store and behind the storefront windows? Yeah- she does those. Best job EVER. I have always said I could live in Anthropologie... but maybe I should just have Ruthi come and design my home.

Lukas VanDyke Fine Art Photography: Lukas and I went to college together and I have long been a fan of his photography. I wish I had him shoot my wedding, but we won't go into all the things I wish I had done for my wedding... My little sister, on the other hand, has gorgeous wedding photos from Lukas. His photography truly is art. He captures all the little moments and details others may not notice and manages to make any person he photographs look 100% photogenic. Someday, Lukas, I will find a need for your photography- even if I have to pull one out of thin air.

There is little more exciting in my bargain-shopping life than coming away from Anthropologie with numerous items under $30. Every October, my mother takes me shopping for my birthday and one of our annual stops is Anthro's clearance room. Of course I peruse the rest of the store, but I don't try anything on unless it is $40 or less. Right now is the perfect time to visit Anthro's sales. The fall clothes are in and the summer clothes are making their way out. But alas, my birthday money does not arrive for a few months. That doesn't mean you have to miss out though!
