EATING like a queen

I have been eating like a queen for the last few weeks. Hubby has made steel-cut oats with cinnamon, apples, and cherries (now I never want to return to my mirowaveable oatmeal!), dark chocolate chip oatmeal cookies with coconut, peanut butter cookies with dark chocolate chips (we like dark chocolate- Ghirardelli dark chocolate to be exact), BabyCakes NYC cornmeal peach muffins (the recipe adds ginger, but I don't like ginger), and a host of other things. When I married my handsome guy almost 4 years ago, I had no idea I married a chef! Score!

THREE years of marriage

3 years ago today hubby and I got married in what has to have been one of the most backwards weddings ever. Everything went wrong and I was crying before the dinner reception even started because the florist failed to deliver the centerpieces and gorgeous floral topiaries from the ceremony to the hotel. We can look back on the wedding and laugh (while still grimacing a little) and even have fun shocking friends with each painful story from that day, but I still don't count our wedding day as the happiest day of my life. Don't feel sorry for me because every day since then has been the happiest day of my life. Our life has been far from what we expected and this last year has been especially challenging, but I wouldn't be able to survive it with anyone else. Hubby never fails to make me laugh and smile, encourage me in my creative endeavors, and take care of me beyond my greatest expectations. This last year as I have been sick, he has been the cook, the maid, the launderer, the grocery shopper, the breadwinner, and has somehow managed to shower me with love and laughs and time together on top of it all. He is truly my other half and I wouldn't trade 3 years of twists and turns with him for 3 years of perfection with anyone else.

I love you, hubs! Happy anniversary!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, hubby

Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear husband. Happy birthday to you. Thanks for always making me laugh and giving the best kisses. We will have fun today. Maybe not as much fun as the day you got to ride this pony, but fun none-the-less. XOXO

V-DAY GIFT from hubby

I know this is late in posting, but I have to share what hubby got me for Valentine's Day. He went to one of my favorite stores and picked out this necklace, bracelet, and jewelry box for me all by himself. He's pretty much amazing.

Dear hubby,
XOXO!
Love, wife

smitten with AFFORDABLE ETSY ART

Hubby and I have been looking for art for our home for a few months now. We've looked on etsy, we've looked at local art, we've looked in antique stores, and thrift stores... and we are having a hard time finding something we both like that we can afford. We have expensive taste and it's a curse. We've found a couple of art pieces that we both liked and then we checked the price tag and it was.... ooook, well, someone else will enjoy that... maybe we can make our own art? I'm not sure I can make art for us, but when hubby doodles or takes notes on anything, it always looks like art to me. Like when he went on an Alaskan fishing trip last year, and left me a card he had drawn in for every day he was gone. This one was my favorite (excuse the terrible photography).

See? Isn't he talented (and precious)? I think he should take up painting or drawing. But that is not the point of this post. I have found some affordable and unique art on etsy that I want to share with you. It may not end up on my walls (depending on if hubby likes it also), but perhaps it will end up on yours.
